Why do Turkey's gobble and strut?

During the breeding season Tom's gobble and strut to attract hens, plain and simple.  This is natures way and imbedded deep in their genes.  This behavior peaks in the spring.  Gobbling can be heard from a long distance, it tells hens where they are.  Strutting can be seen from long distance as well and is a form of communication in the turkey world.
